Integrated Product Policy Print E-mail

IPP stands for Integrated Product Policy, the European Commission’s long term environmental strategy for development of more sustainable products. The core issue in IPP is to stimulate life cycle oriented product development. IPP advocates “life-cycle thinking”, which means that measures for pollution reduction are searched for in the complete life cycle of the product – with specific focus on eliminating the environmental problem at the source. In principle, all products and services fall within the scope of the IPP. The strategy calls for participation of all parties involved throughout the life cycle of the products:

·         Manufacturers should implement EcoDesign to ensure that the products are environmentally friendly;

·         Distributors and retailers should market green products and inform the consumers of their benefits;

·         Consumers should buy green products, use them, and discard them as environmentally friendly as possible.
